What is the caste system in India – The thing that has kept Hindus apart in India nowadays is caste. Our entire society which used to be united earlier has been divided into Brahmans, Kshatriya, Vaishyas, and Shudras.
Everyone is engaged in calling himself superior to others. People started discriminating without knowing what is caste system in India or what is the origin of caste system in India.
Even political parties have been made based on the caste of the people. All Hindus fight with each other without knowing the real truth of caste.

These political parties and people of other religions take maximum advantage of this. Here I will not tell much about the caste system because it is known to all.
Here I will talk about what was the reason behind the caste system and where it went wrong.
What is the caste system in India
Let me give you an example from around you.
In the old days, when there were no hospitals, what caste was the midwife who got your child born?
The one who cuts the navel of the child, who used to touch and massage the child belonged to which caste?
Which caste used to cut hairs of your child?
For whom did the boy’s father first ask for clothes in the wedding hall? Barber and washer-man.
Chhath Puja is celebrated with soop prepared by which caste?
Who used to bring water from the well to your house?
Which caste used to make plates for food?
Who washes your clothes?
From which caste people did you get your flower-like daughter carried in Palki (Sedan)?
Which caste of people sows your crop and reap it?
Which caste do people light your funeral pyre?
You must have got your answer.
From birth to death, we are connected to each other all the time. Now you tell yourself where is the untouchability in this?
Caste system in Hinduism
In ancient times there was a Varna System, not caste system, and there is mention of the varna system in our religious books too.That system was according to deeds and not according to birth.
On the basis of your karma, you were divided into Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, or Shudra and the most important thing was that despite this there is no mention of religious discrimination anywhere.
Everyone was considered equal. Shudra was respected as much as Brahmin was. There was no discrimination anywhere.
If you must have read Ramayana, it is clearly written in it that when Shri Ram went to Gurukul for education, people of all castes were taking education with him.
Even King Nishadraj was the best friend of Shri Ram ji and while going to exile and returning he used to meet Nishadraj.
If there was discrimination in our religion then why would Shri Ram eat Shabari’s tasted berries?
Why does Shri Krishna wash the feet of his friend Sudama?
To which caste did Valmiki who composed Ramayana belong?
When there was no discrimination on the basis of caste in our religious books, then when did we start considering caste as inferior or superior?
Muslim invaders and the British put all this in our religion. All of them knew that till they do not create division among Hindus, they cannot rule over them.
That’s why by giving the greed of money, according to their own opinion, they made the caste system on the basis of birth.
While it was not on the basis of birth but on the basis of karma.
Greedy Hindus also work on increasing misunderstanding in this, who started considering themselves high and others low.
This practice was passed on from generation to generation and people did not even try to know its truth.
From Vivekananda to Ambedkar, efforts were made to remove the discrimination against the people.
But the Hindus had settled superior and inferior in their mind till then.
Allowing people to take water from the well and not allowing Shudras to enter the temple, was a trap spread by the Mughals in which Hindus easily got trapped.
Otherwise, you will not find this distinction in any religious book.
In many places people say that it is written in that book, then let me tell you that Indian history has been distorted and written so many times that its real essence has been lost somewhere.
Brahmans have united the society, not divide it
At the time of marriage, the Brahmin, adding Dalit standing at the lowest rung of the society, made it mandatory that all the auspicious work would be done on the chulha made by the Dalit woman. In this way, Dalit was connected.
The girl will remain Suhagan only by bathing by the water given by the washer woman in marriage, in this way the washer woman was connected.
Gods will be worshiped only on the earthen pot given by the potter, adding the potter in rituals.
The Musahar caste, who make pattals/doniyas from the leaves of trees, added saying that the worship of deities will be accomplished with the pattals/doniyas made by them.
The Kahars who used to fill water added saying that the deities would be worshiped with the water given by them.
Vishwakarma, who used to do woodwork, said that the bride and groom would worship the deities by sitting on the seat/chowki made by them.
Then adding those Hindus who had become Muslims due to some reason, they were told that marriages would be solemnized by wearing only the clothes (James-jodas) stitched by them.
Then Muslim women were added saying that the bangles they wore would bring good luck to the bride.
Dharikar, who is made to do dwarchar by placing daal and mauri on the head of the bridegroom, was added saying that without the gifts made by them, the blessings of the gods cannot be received.
The doms who used to do the work of cleaning the dirt and carrying the filth were added by saying that after death, the first fire would be lit by them only.
In this way, when all sections of the society used to come, the women of the house used to welcome them by singing auspicious songs and bid them farewell by giving Dakshina along with the prize.
Where is the fault of Brahmins?
Yes, it is the fault of the Brahmans that they never refuted the baseless allegations leveled against them. Which became the reason for the insult of Brahmans.
In this way, after the presence of every class of the society, the Brahmin used to ask the barber whether all the classes have been present? Only after the barber says yes, the Brahmans start the auspicious ceremony.
Effect of caste system in India
Christian missionaries took advantage of this by tricking Hindus into that you are vile, adopt Christianity, everyone is equal here. Less educated Hindus get converted into christian, now those converted people talk bad about Hindu religion.
Similarly, lakhs of people were converted to Buddhism. These people now become the vote bank of a particular party.
If someone is called Ahir, he will feel bad because he does not know the true meaning of that word.
Yaduvanshi Kshatriya are Ahirs only. Most of the people of this community are known as the Yadav. Now you tell yourself where is derogatory in this?
But people do not have the knowledge, and that’s why they consider this word bad. It is associated with the name of Lord Shri Krishna himself.
Similarly, the word Dalit, do you know that the word Dalit was first coined in 1831 by J.J. J. Made by Moles worth.
The word Shudra is mentioned in our ancient texts but that word was never used as a discriminatory or derogatory word.
The respect that was for the word Brahmin, the same respect was for Shudra as well. But the British coined all these words to create a divide among Indians to rule.
All this was the method of divide and rule by Muslims and the British. So that they can rule over us. Otherwise, no one was considered high or low in our Sanatan Dharma.
All castes are respected in Hinduism and there was never any discrimination in it.
